Every summer, Kramden hosts camps for rising 3rd – 12th graders. These camps cover a variety of topics related to technology, including Digital Creativity, PC Build, and Drone Flight. Students come to Kramden’s location in Durham to explore these subjects over two to five days depending on the camp. This summer 163 students have registered for one of our many technology-centered camps.
Middle and high school students can join Kramden to learn how to build a computer from scratch. The hands-on project includes choosing parts, installing them, adding a graphics card, troubleshooting, and benchmarking. Students have the opportunity to build, modify, and tear down computers just as our staff does in our warehouse. The camp culminates with students building a PC to practice their skills.
In the two-day Drone Flight camp, participants in grades 6-8 learn about the history of drones and about some of the careers related to the rapidly changing field. Campers learn to pilot drones in person and on simulators, and complete obstacle courses and air traffic control simulations to showcase their skills.
To ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate in camps, Kramden offers scholarships to students who qualify. Scholarships are available for students who receive free- or reduced-price lunch thanks to a generous sponsorship from Fidelity.
Camps run from June to August. There are still spots available for our final Digital Creativity Camp (Grades 6-8). The camp will run August 12-16. You can register and apply for a scholarship here!
