Position Title:    Lead Computer Technician

Classification:    Full Time Employee

Reports To:        Director of Technical Operations

Position Description:

Kramden Institute is a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide technology tools and training to bridge the digital divide. Since our founding in 2003, Kramden has refurbished and awarded over 40,000 computers to 83 of North Carolina’s 100 counties. Kramden also offers a wide range of educational programs, aimed at teaching students and members of the community basic and advanced computer literacy skills through which to better their lives.

Kramden is looking for qualified applicants for a full time Lead Computer Technician (LCT) position to start immediately. The LCT will interact with staff, volunteers and clients to assist with the technology refurbishing process. The position will be responsible for all tasks throughout the hardware refurbishing process including hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, software deployment, inventory management, and general warehouse logistics.

Principal Job Duties:

Sort and process incoming equipment into various production, recycling and sales streams
Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting and repairs on incoming hardware
Deploy operating systems and software in Linux, Windows and iOS environments
Provide phone and email technical support to clients and partners
Prepare hardware shipments to clients including packaging and shipment
Manage our disk sanitization process for data security
Lead volunteers through our refurbishing process
Pickup equipment form corporate partners in company vehicle
Maintain clean and efficient workspace for volunteers and staff alike

Administrative:

Track incoming/outgoing equipment shipments
Inventory management and assessment
Attend staff meetings and work with other members of the Production staff
Attend/assist corporate and sponsored Kramden events as needed

Employment Requirements:

Associate’s degree or equivalent applicable work experience
Extensive knowledge, skills, and familiarity with computer hardware, software, and basic networking
Hardware troubleshooting and repair experience across multiple brands and device types
Experience with Windows Deployment Server (WDS) or other OS deployment strategies
Ability to lift 50bs often and repeatedly
A successful background criminal check
A valid driver’s license

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $38,000-$40,000 with annual performance review and raise opportunity based on performance and fiscal health of the organization
Bonus: Annual bonus opportunity based on performance and fiscal health of Kramden
Healthcare: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO with 80% of the premiums offset by Kramden
Retirement: Eligible after one year of employment with 3% matching funds
Leave: Three weeks PTO (2 weeks flexible with 3rd week during the Christmas week)
