Assistant Instructor – Track-out Camps

Kramden offers a variety of technology education classes, camps, and afterschool programs to engage youth in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Kramden is in need of an assistant instructor to help lead:

  • Digital Media Camp: March 13-17, 2017 (Wake year-round Track 1; Wake Modified calendar)

Over 5 days participants will learn the ins and outs of digital media production, from preliminary design and planning stages to fully realized and published productions. Using accessible open-source and web-based tools, this camp will provide an introduction to digital imaging, audio production, and video editing through real world projects and scenarios. Day to day, students will learn about digital workflow and teamwork through a variety of fun hands-on activities, software training, and project feedback. (Will be held at NC State McKimmon Center)

The Assistant Instructor will:

  • Support the lead instructor in the presentation of camp curriculum
  • Set proper expectations of behavior and manage student compliance to ensure a positive learning environment for all students
  • Maintain accurate attendance and participation documentation for each camp
  • Implement Kramden’s program assessment methods
  • Create a fun and open environment for learning

Employment Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s level college degree or higher
  • Teaching experience (preference will be given to active public school teachers and teacher assistants)
  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly
  • Ability to confidently manage student behavior
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Commitment to working with students from differing backgrounds and of varying levels of ability

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Experience creating content on a computer (graphics, sound, web sites, videos, etc.)


  • $15 an hour
  • A brief paid training will be required
