Geek of the Week – Isabella Jong

Isabella Jong is Geek of the Week! Isabella first started volunteering with Kramden in September 2021.  She has volunteered more than 100 hours refurbishing computers and assisting in teaching basic digital literacy classes to our adult learners.  Thank you, Isabella, for your support and dedication to Kramden’s mission!

Favorite Geek Books: Top favorite is the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, runner-up is the Tough Guide to Fantasyland by Diana Wynne Jones.

Favorite Geek TV Show: I don’t watch much TV, but I’ll say the BBC’s Sherlock.

Favorite Geek Movie: Inception.

Favorite Website: Wikipedia!

What is the geekiest thing about you? I still use Mozilla Firefox on every device I can. (The lone exception here is my school-assigned Chromebook.)

What is your favorite thing about volunteering with Kramden? I’ve discovered I like meeting the people who come through Kramden: the volunteers, Durham community members, and staff.

Best Kramden Moment? Finding random things in incoming bins. Top three: bunches of keys, something that looked like a marker but was only labeled with a serial number, and a rare species of two-headed power cable.

When you are not volunteering at Kramden, what do you do? I play the viola in a piano quartet, go rock climbing, occasionally fix my desktop PC, commute to school, and attend school.
