Kramden and Town of Cary Partner for Digital Equity

Kramden Institute is proud to be part of the Town of Cary’s Housing Plan by bringing digital skills classes to residents. Kramden will partner with Dorcas Ministries this year to deliver the Spanish language Computer Basics course to their clients.

The program aligns with the “regional partnership” goal in the Cary plan. The town is investing in partnerships with area nonprofits to support workforce development initiatives. In the Computer Basics class, Spanish speaking Cary residents will learn the foundational skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital workforce. The 8-hour course covers the basics of computer hardware, productivity software, and online life including safety and privacy. At the end of the course, all participants will have earned a refurbished computer from Kramden.

We are happy to partner with Dorcas Ministries, who we have worked with in the past to get computer devices to students who need them. A Kramden Technology Educator will teach the course at the Dorcas Ministries location in Cary. Up to 60 individuals will complete the course and receive a laptop.

This project is funded through a grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Community Development Block Grant supports the development of affordable housing and expansion of economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents. Kramden is grateful to have been selected as a subrecipient of this grant by Cary Housing.
